According to the Department of Statistics of Astana, 440 thousand young people aged 14 to 35 years live in the city. Since the beginning of the year, 6834 people have been covered by employment measures. At the request of MIA "Kazinform", the acting head of the office of the Mayor of Astana, Nurlan Alimzhanov, answered where young people are most often employed and which industries are less attractive to them.
Youth unemployment rate – 4%
"Youth is a strategic potential of any state. The path of our country to the future is connected with the level of development, value orientations, the degree of participation in the economic, political and social life of Kazakh youth. It is not by chance that the Government of Kazakhstan pays close attention to the issues of youth policy. According to the Statistics Department, there are 440 thousand young people from 14 to 35 years old in our city",

- the share of NEET youth is 6.2% or 26,045 people.
There are 14 higher educational institutions, 67 thousand students receive education. 14,426 students live in 36 dormitories.
About employment programs
For young people, there are such programs as "Youth Practice", "Community Service", "First workplace", "Contract of Generations", Social workplaces, training, etc.
For example, since the beginning of the year, 6834 young people have been covered by employment promotion measures in Astana. In particular, 1,770 people were employed for permanent work, 314 for youth practice, 867 for community service, 134 social jobs, 155 for the first workplace, 3 generational contracts, 20 grants were provided for the implementation of new business ideas, 113 micro-loans for youth, aimed at vocational training - 29, were trained through the Electronic Labor Exchange - 257 and the basics of entrepreneurship in "Bastau business" - 3172 young people.
After graduation, they can apply to the Employment Center.
"I can give you an example: there is a Youth Practice program. The program is designed specifically for the unemployed, from among the graduates of educational organizations implementing educational programs of technical and vocational, post-secondary, higher and postgraduate education in their profession (specialty), who completed their studies during the previous 3 years, and are not older than 35 years. The period of youth internship is counted in the work experience. Having proved himself, a young man can stay there on a permanent basis. I think this is a great opportunity. Or the "First Workplace" program. Jobs under the "First Workplace" project for graduates of educational institutions are created according to their profession (specialty) or related profession belonging to the same group of occupations of the national classifier of occupations," Nurlan Alimzhanov noted.
Participation in the "First Workplace" project is no more than 18 months.
What areas are interesting for young people?
When entering universities, young people mostly choose technical specialties, information and communication technologies, business, management. Entrepreneurial activity is quite attractive for a significant part of young people. Young people mainly work in the fields of education, information and communications, public administration, construction, trade. The smallest number is in the fields of agriculture, industry, electricity and water supply.
