How to enroll in the Republican schools "Zhas Ulan" of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Kazakhstan

The Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Kazakhstan includes three republican schools "Zhas Ulan":

1) Almaty Republican school "Zhas Ulan" named after Bauyrzhan Momyshuly;

2) Karaganda Republican school "Zhas Ulan" named after Twice Hero of the Soviet Union T.Ya. Begeldinov;

3) Shymkent Republican school "Zhas Ulan" named after Hero of the Soviet Union Sabir Rakhimov.

By Decree of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated 09/26/2015 No. 789, republican military boarding schools in Almaty, Karaganda, Shymkent were transferred from the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Kazakhstan and renamed the republican schools "Zhas Ulan" of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Almaty Republican school "Zhas Ulan" named after Bauyrzhan Momyshuly Almaty Republican Military Boarding School was established in 1983. According to Resolution No. 189 of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kazakh SSR dated March 26, 1991, she was named after Hero of the Soviet Union Bauyrzhan Momyshuly.

Karaganda Republican school "Zhas Ulan" named after Twice Hero of the Soviet Union T.Y. Begeldinov Karaganda Republican Military Boarding School was founded by the decision of the Council of Ministers of the Kazakh SSR dated June 27, 1984 No. 278-20. By the decision of the Council of Ministers of the Kazakh SSR dated August 4, 1992 No. 653, the Karaganda Republican Military Boarding School was named after Twice Hero of the Soviet Union T.Ya. Begeldinov.

Shymkent republican school "Zhas Ulan" named after Hero of the Soviet Union Sabir Rakhimov. Shymkent Republican Military Boarding School was established in accordance with Resolution No. 473 of the Central Committee of the CPSU and the Council of Ministers of the USSR dated May 26, 1983, and Order No. 108/3 of the Minister of Defense of the USSR dated May 29, 1984. By Decree of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan No. 497 dated May 30, 2003, she was named after the Hero of the Soviet Union, Major General Sabir Rakhimov.

Republican schools "Zhas Ulan" are educational institutions that implement a general secondary education program with in-depth study of state, foreign languages, military disciplines and enhanced physical training.

About 1000 pupils of grades 10-11 study at the republican schools "Zhas Ulan" in Almaty, Karaganda, Shymkent.

The life of schools is organized according to a boarding system with round-the-clock stay of students, called pupils, and their full provision at the expense of budgetary funds in accordance with established norms.

The main tasks of the RC "Zhas Ulan":

1. Creating the necessary conditions for pupils to receive general secondary education with subsequent directions for training in military educational institutions.

2. In-depth study of state, foreign languages and military disciplines, as well as enhanced physical training aimed at the formation, development and professional formation of a personality based on national and universal values, achievements of science and practice.

3. Education of Kazakhstani patriotism, value attitude to the state symbols of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

4. Instilling in pupils high moral, moral and volitional psychological qualities.

5. Military-professional orientation in order to prepare students for training in military educational institutions.

Republican schools "Zhas Ulan" closely cooperate with the Autonomous Educational Organization "Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools" within the framework of broadcasting best practices in the field of secondary education content, on the introduction of new teaching and upbringing methods into the educational process of professional development of teachers, professional development of teaching staff, training in new approaches, methods and innovations.

In order to comprehensively develop pupils, improve their physical fitness and moral and psychological qualities, military sports games are held annually among pupils of the Republican schools "Zhas Ulan" and specialized lyceums. National teams of KVN Republican schools "Zhas Ulan" take an active part in republican (regional) competitions among secondary educational institutions of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

How to enroll in the Republican school "Zhas Ulan"

The Republican schools "Zhas Ulan" (hereinafter referred to as the School) accept young men – citizens of the Republic of Kazakhstan not younger than fifteen, but not older than sixteen years old for the year of admission, who graduated in the year of admission from 9 (10 classes according to the 12-year study program) classes of secondary education and those who have received a certificate of completion of basic secondary education.

Applicants who are fit for study for health reasons, in the period from August 1 to August 5 inclusive of the admission year, arrive at School with their parents (legal representatives) and apply for admission to the School with the attachment of the documents specified in Appendix 1 to these Rules.

Applicants who have not submitted a full set of documents to the admissions committee are not allowed to be admitted.

Admission to the School is carried out in the period from August 6 to August 20 inclusive of the admission year on a competitive basis in 5 (five) stages:

Stage I – professional and psychological selection;

Stage II – testing in mathematics and language of instruction according to the basic secondary education program;

Stage III – final medical examination in accordance with the Order of the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated December 21, 2020 No. 716 "On approval of the Rules for conducting military medical examination and Regulations on military medical examination commissions in the Armed Forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan" (registered in the Register of State Registration of Normative Legal Acts No. 21869) (hereinafter – the Rules conducting a military medical examination);

Stage IV – verification of physical fitness according to the standards, according to Appendix 2-1 to these Rules.

Stage V – competitive selection and enrollment.

Applicants are allowed to complete each stage of admission once. An applicant who has not passed the previous stage is not allowed to proceed to the next stage.

The professional and psychological selection of applicants includes checking the level of motivation, stress resistance, critical and logical thinking, and is carried out by the admission committee together with the department of educational and ideological work of the School in coordination with the structural unit. Applicants who are not recommended according to the results of professional psychological testing are considered not to have passed the stage.

Testing in mathematics and the language of instruction is carried out to determine the level of knowledge of applicants.

The test questions in mathematics and the language of instruction are compiled taking into account the program for basic secondary education provided for in Standard Programs, and amount to 20 questions each. In test questions, 1 question is equal to 1 point.

A pass to the next stage is at least 5 points in each subject.

The final medical examination of applicants includes determining their fitness to study at School for health reasons.

The examination of the physical fitness of applicants includes the acceptance of standards for physical culture provided for basic secondary education in accordance with Appendix 2-1 to these Rules. Applicants who have scored less than 60 points in the total points for all exercises and have not scored the minimum points according to two standards are considered not to have passed the stage.

The competitive selection includes the preparation of a rating of applicants from the maximum to the minimum rating score and is conducted by the admission committee on August 20 of the admission year.

Applicants who are ranked from the first number to the number corresponding to the number of allocated places according to the recruitment plan are enrolled in the School. It is allowed to exceed the recruitment plan by up to 10% of the total amount.

Children of military personnel, subject to the conditions provided for in paragraph 3 of Article 52 of the Law, enjoy the right to non-competitive enrollment in School.

The decision of the admissions committee is announced before 10.00 a.m. on August 21 of the admission year and posted on the School's Internet resource, applications for appeal are accepted until 18.00 p.m. on August 21.

The decision of the admissions committee on enrollment is approved on August 22 of the year of admission by the order of the head of the School.

Those enrolled in Schools arrive for training before August 29 of the admission year.

Appendix 1

The list of documents submitted to applicants to the School

1. Application for admission in any form indicating the surname, first name and patronymic (if any), date of birth, address of the applicant's place of residence, contact details of parents or legal representatives.

2. A copy of the birth certificate (original for verification).

3. A copy of the certificate of basic secondary education (original and copy).

4. 3x4 cm photos-4 pcs.

5. Medical documents and medical research results in accordance with paragraph 33 of the Rules of military medical examination.

6. A letter of recommendation from the director of an educational institution with a seal.

7. A document (if any) confirming the sports category, the prize-winning place in the republican or international competitions, competitions of performers of the current year, at the international Olympiad in general education subjects, as well as at the Presidential or Republican Olympiad in general education subjects of the current year.
