February 14 is International Book Giving Day. The holiday was approved by the UN in 2012. Since then, this holiday has been celebrated all over the world on February 14th. This is one of the youngest holidays in the calendar.
The purpose of the holiday is to increase the power of the book and instill a love of reading.
At the same time, a sociological study by the SRC "Youth" (Youth of Kazakhstan, 2023) showed that 8.8% of young people never, 25% constantly, 37.9% rarely, 28.4% sometimes read books.
