A 26-year-old Kazakhstani man set a record by swimming across the Strait of Gibraltar without a wetsuit

26-year-old Madi Adilkhanov from Almaty swam across the Strait of Gibraltar in 4 hours 33 minutes and set a record, turkystan.kz reports with reference to Kazakhparat.
Since childhood, Madi has been involved in sports such as tennis, football and water polo. Two years ago, he preferred to swim in open water and intended to swim across the famous Strait of Gibraltar. Finally, on September 4, he and his team swam 15.5 kilometers from the Spanish city of Tarifa to the African city of Morocco and set a record.
Madi says covering so many kilometers was not easy.
Madi's team consisted of two French and one Costa Rican.
“The French wanted to go swimming last year, but it was not possible due to the weather and the location. And there was supposed to be an American among us, but in the end he did not participate. However, in the end we became such an international team,” says Madi.
Madi shared what he learned from this experience.
“I think anyone can swim across the strait. You just need to practice a lot. After this success, I became convinced that anything is possible if you have passion and determination,” says Madi.
