The number of grants may decrease in Kazakhstan

The Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Sayasat Nurbek, commented on information previously published in the media that the Keleshek funded educational project will replace grants in Kazakhstan, a Kazinform correspondent reports. - This is incorrect information. As you know, the President set such a big task in his Address. Starting next year, it is necessary to switch to the Keleshek system. This allows families to gradually save money for their child, starting from the age of 5,” said Sayasat Nurbek on the sidelines of the Labor Day forum in the Republic of Kazakhstan. In addition, according to him, our state will make payments from insurance and savings companies. - This is a planned measure to maintain access to higher education. But the number of grants may decrease. After all, money accumulates gradually, over 15-20 years. When a child reaches 17-18 years old, 12.5 million tenge is collected. We are currently working on all the calculations. That is, when a child enters a higher education institution, the family will have guaranteed savings. And when the child receives benefits, this money can be spent on housing,” the minister explained. “So it doesn't happen overnight. As money continues to be collected for 15 to 20 years, the number of grants may decrease. The state grant order remains in place. This is the main function of our state. We will maintain access to higher education; there will be no changes in this regard. But the number of grants may change or decrease,” added S. Nurbek.
