How do I replace my driver's license?

Basic conditions

1. The driver's license is replaced in the case of:
   • change of surname, first name, patronymic;
   • its unsuitability for use;
   • expiration date;
   • at the request of the owner.
2. To do this, you must apply for a replacement driver's license.
3. There are three ways to apply for a replacement driver's license without expiration:
   • on the e-government portal egov.kz ;
   • in the registration and examination department of the Department or in the traffic police department;
   • in the Special zone.

Ways to apply for a replacement driver's license

Applying for a replacement through the website egov.kz

To apply for a driver's license on the egov portal.kz, it is necessary:

• get an EDS (electronic digital signature);
• log in and submit an application.

The application must be accompanied by:

• digital photo and electronic signature image;
• a document or receipt confirming payment of state duties.

Service delivery time: 2 hours.

Intermediate result of the provision of the service: notification in the form of an electronic document certified by an EDS of an authorized person of the service provider.

The result of the provision of the service: a driver's license, a temporary driver's license or a justified refusal to provide a public service.

Note: during the issuance of a driver's license, you may be asked to provide the documents required to apply for a replacement through a special service.

Applying for a replacement in a special zone

To apply for a driver's license, you must provide the following documents:

• an identity document;
• previously issued driver's license;
• certificate of change of surname, first name, patronymic (in case of change of full name);
• the original and a copy of the medical certificate on the state of health in form No. 083/y from the polyclinic at the place of attachment (a certificate can also be obtained at the Special Center), certificates from the "Center for Narcology and Psychotherapy" on the absence of alcohol, toxicological and narcological dependence and the Mental Health Center (these certificates can also be obtained at the Special Center), as well as fluorography (you can be examined at the polyclinic at the place of attachment);
• a receipt for the payment of a state fee in the amount of 1.25 MCI for the issuance of a driver's license (you can pay in a special account, a second-tier bank or on the egov e-government portal.kz using a bank payment card. EDS is not required);
• the direction of the organization for work with the diplomatic corps of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (for foreign citizens and stateless persons).

Service delivery time: 2 hours. The final result of the service: the issuance of a driver's license. How to apply for a replacement in the traffic police To apply for a driver's license, you must provide the following documents:

• marriage certificate (in case of name change);
• an identity document;
• driver's license;
• certificate of change of surname, first name, patronymic (in case of change of full name);
• the original and a copy of the medical certificate of health on form No. 083/y (similar as when applying for a replacement in a special zone);
• a receipt for the payment of a state fee in the amount of 1.25 MCI for the issuance of a driver's license (you can pay in a special account, a second-tier bank or on the egov e-government portal.kz using a bank payment card. EDS is not required);
• address reference;
• military ID card or certificate of registration (for military personnel).

Service delivery time: 6 hours.

The final result of the service: issuance of a driver's license.

After the traffic police officer checks all the documents, a referral for a driver's license is issued. With this direction and all available documents, you need to go to the photo booth, take a picture and wait for the printout of a new driver's license.
